Ladies and gentlemen, let’s inroduce: Sinplus – possibly the biggest small band on the planet!
Sinplus are a stadium rock band from Switzerland which, for the time being at least, has to do without a stadium. But rest assured, that’s only a provisional situation. Because Gabriel and Ivan Broggini have alpine ambitions, a whole lot of experience of the learning-by-doing kind, and an album called „This Is What We Are“ that’s more masterplan than business card.
The Broggini brothers are from Locarno in the south of Switzerland, where they still live like James Bond villains with the best of intentions. Proof positive: They won the prestigious MTV award for Best Swiss Act in 2014 and had a good-natured shot at the Eurovision Song Contest with their hit single „Unbreakable“.
But really Sinplus aren’t your run-of-the-mill hopefuls with a lucky kick at the can but rather an ambitious twosome with their eyes set straight on the prize: a stadium rock band in the making, who have honed their skills in studios from London to Los Angeles and who count masters like U2, Coldplay and Muse among their idols. Like them, it’s their pride and privilege to be able to transform large crowds of strangers into a musical family dreaming the same dream.
Their ticket is a larger-than-life sound imbued with positivity, skyscraper melodies, big choruses and majestic solos that talk about freedom, rebirth and self-assuredness. If you think about alternative rock, power pop , a bit of disco and an ever so slight bit of reggae, you’re almost there. Sinplus have absorbed everything that’s available to the experimental mind, rooted in the time-honed tradition of classic songwriting. Add to that an optimistic vibe and a genuine feeling that favours the electric guitar as a lead instrument.
„If our songs had a message to them it would be: There’s a power within you you should definitely tap into“, Sinplus say. And you don’t need to be fluent in English to get it (they are, though, plus Italian and German to boot). „This Is What We Are“ is a modern day soundtrack to unadulurated optimism, self-produced and written by the band themselves, with all the colours in the rainbow to testify.
